A Little Rain and an Orange Popper

A Little Rain and an Orange Popper

Several days ago recent rains stained the waters of a favorite stream and Terry’s streamers were completely ignored. Thirty minutes of casting futility ended when a size-8 orange popper replaced the streamer. Retrieves needed an aggressive strip to give him a water-pushing “pop.” The sound enabled the bass to locate the lure and subsequent subtle strips¬†brought the first of many smashing strikes from the largemouth bass. Most hits resulted in head-shaking leaps and dogged dives for bottom structure. The final catch was an evening’s best 16-incher.
