Two days of sunshine which warm the upper layer of pond water enabled us to cast over deep water and retrieve small streamers at a depth of 2 to 3 feet. Bluegills ignore the bright sunlight that normally forces their retreat for the opportunity to warm up which increases their metabolisms and their need to feed. This midday trip resulted in 2 dozen bluegills of 5 to 7 1/2 inches. Give winter bluegills a try.
