Finally, we had a warmer 70-degree windless day spent wading a small rocky stream. I cast a size-10 popper, and a bead-head woolly bugger called a “Chili Pepper.” Eleven Smallmouth Bass to 13 inches were brought to the net as well as numerous Green and Longear Sunfish. Casts to shaded pockets in the rocks followed by a slow lift, drop, strip retrieve brought on the action. The return of stable weather is cause for optimism. Go fishing!
