The stillness of a rock-strewn stream pool demanded careful probing with streamers.  A size-6 Muddler Minnow was slowly stripped until a smashing strike put a deep bend in my 6-weight. Four spectacular leaps ended in a flash of bronze s the 15-inch smallmouth bass was returned to its home. Several smaller specimens were netted and released before a large submerged tree branch was explored with the same fly. Again the fly was inhaled and a bass vaulted into a head-shaking leap, but this time a largemouth was the cause. Beautiful memories.
