The rains have slowed enough to permit wet wading a favorite stream. While still a bit high, there were fishable eddies and pockets. Most held big green sunfish and brightly-colored longear sunfish that hit black Bully Spiders. Just as the sun dipped behind the ridge above the river, I cast a Bass Bully along a mid-stream seam and allowed it to drift into still water before slowly stripping the fly. The tactic produced a 15-inch largemouth and sent me home with a smile.
