Our drought demands long upstream wades to deep pools. This time I used a 6-weight with full-sink line and a 3-foot length of 3X tippet for Craw Bullys to sink to the rocky substrate. A lift, drop, strip retrieve imparted the action that replicated an escaping crayfish and triggered frequent hookups. Both smallmouth and largemouth bass fell for my imposter as 6 of each species were landed and released. Regretfully, the biggest bass threw the hook in an explosive leap.
