Between threatening storms, I headed to a pond with an 8 wt. and a box of our size-2 Diving Frogs. Every shaded weed pocket and deadfall seemed to hold bass. After splashdown, the frog remained still for long seconds before a firm strip caused it to dive with its legs kicking wildly. Released line tension allowed the imposter to resurface which often resulted in an explosive strike followed by an acrobatic battle. I never cease to feel a sense of wonder at the joy of pursuing game fish with a fly rod.
