Just in time for June bass! After having dozens of big bass grab our hooked sunfish, we learned it was the vibrations of the frantic fish that triggered the lunkers’ interest. Our desire to replicate that vulnerability resulted in the creation of the H.O.T. Streamer. The name is an acronym for “Hold On Tight,” the exclamation of our fishing companion as we fought a 5-pound largemouth on the fly’s maiden voyage. The H.O.T. Streamer is tied with a double weedguard on a size-2 wide-gap bass hook, and it’s dressed as a sunfish or a shad. It’s effective on the vertical drop, strips of various lengths or the lift, drop, strip retrieve.
