Aha! Spring! A beautiful 70-degree late afternoon with only a light breeze led to selecting a favorite 3-wt. Yellow Bully Spiders in size 12 accounted for several 8-inch bluegills before surface dimples invited a switch to size-10 yellow sponge spiders. Two 12-inch largemouths and a dozen fat bluegills greedily attached the surface bugs. The fish were scattered and cruising. Casting to rises was fruitless as the fish had moved on. Random casts to the deep edges of the shallow flats and subtle twitches of the fly did the trick.
