Terry’s 7-weight rod, a 7 1/2-foot leader with 3X tippet and a box of our Diving Frogs went out for the evening to a favored pond this week. The fly’s double weed guard enabled casts into the heaviest cover. When the fly was twitched and gently pulled to open water a firm strip caused it to swim under the surface to imitate frantic kicks. When he released the tension the fly bobbed back to the surface. Time after time the surface exploded with strikes and head-shaking leaps from largemouth bass to 16 inches. Gotta love May’s hungry fish!
