This is my go-to pattern for panfish. Excellent when fished on the drop, or as the subsurface fly on a hopper-dropper rig. It works on carp too!

Hi Rob, Great to hear from you. Mailed the order a couple of days ago but, computer trouble prevented me from answering. Interesting that the night before we received your order I was re-reading “Fishing the Sam.” Our rivers are low and very clear right now. The smallmouths are on the move to the deeper holes as the water cools but the Green Sunfish and Longear Sunfish are hitting dry flies with abandon. We like fishing the Bully Spider on the vertical drop and our pond fishing has really focused on that. I’m very partial to 3 wts. I have 5 and, of course, am always looking for the 6th.
