Take one 3-wt. with sponge spiders wet-wading in a spring-fed stream. Ahhh. Expect relief in an hour or two before sunset.
Terry’s evening trip to a canopied stretch of a nearby stream fostered some surprises. He expected to catch some mean green sunfish and some eager longear sunfish, but 7- to 8-inch bluegills that had migrated upstream from the reservoir were lying in wait instead. Then casts to exposed branches of a submerged limb reaped an explosive strike. the hook set sent a 15-inch largemouth cartwheeling across the surface. He enjoyed three more thrashing bass before dark. Go fishing!
