Our rivers are still high which prompted a mid-afternoon trip to our club’s pond. The water was still cool but the warming sun drew bluegills to within a couple of feet of the surface. They were widely scattered over deep water and very wary. three times my line’s shadow sent fish fleeing for the safety of the deeper water. Even so, two hours of casting yellow Bully’s Bluegill Spiders brought a dozen bluegills and two small bass to hand.
