It’s no secret that big fish eat little fish. The way of the aquatic world strongly recommends streamer fishing. There are two additions I prefer to incorporate into my streamers. First, I consider the addition of eyes to be very important. They give the impression of vulnerability that offers up a trigger to all predators. Eyes also lend the impression of realism as well as providing a target for the attacker. The second addition to my streamers is a double monofilament weed guard that incorporates a twist beneath the hook eye. I learned the value of the double mono weed guard years ago from the great deer hair tier Jim Stuart. The twist was shown to me by fishin’ pal and Louisiana streamer tier Marc Pinsel. The twist offers a little separation of the mono strand which keeps the fly weedless while enabling a more secure hook penetration.
